Russ started ICONICS in 1986 to create off-the-shelf HMI and SCADA and Visualization software for factory automation. He has over 30 years of experience in the development and management of HMI/SCADA and process control software for a wide variety of industries. Russ started his career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation designing software systems for Fossil and Nuclear Power Plant turbine control systems. He then worked at Foxboro Company leading the HMI development of the "IA" Distributed Control System. After Foxboro, Russ then worked at Analog devices to work on control software for real-time PC based applications. Russ holds several patents and has been awarded the Clifford Furnas award for engineering innovation. Russ has a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Buffalo and has taken graduate classes in Computer Science from Boston University. He is a member of the OPC Foundation Board of Directors since 2003 and is a member of the University of Buffalo Engineering Dean's Council.

Sam George

Sam George is the Corporate Vice President of Azure IoT, delivering a broad portfolio of services and capabilities that help our customers and partners realize the full potential of the Internet of Things. He is responsible for Azure IoT Central, Azure IoT Solution Accelerators, Azure IoT Hub, Azure IoT Edge, Azure Digital Twins, Azure Time Series Insights, Azure Maps, Microsoft Connected Vehicle Platform and Azure Industrial IoT / Open Manufacturing Platform. Sam started his career in Microsoft as a software developer and is an avid technology enthusiast who still writes code in his spare time. Sam’s contributions during his 20-year tenure at Microsoft include a broad set of cloud and client technologies.

Sanjay Jhawar

Sanjay Jhawar is Co-founder, President and Chief Product Officer at RealWear – a Silicon Valley company building the world’s first head mounted tablet – a wearable that completely frees the hands of industrial workers.

Prior to RealWear Sanjay served on the senior executive teams at three technology startups:
• Sonim Technologies where he was VP/GM of Solutions and Marketing. Sonim makes the world’s toughest smartphones for industrial and public safety users, offered by carriers like AT&T, Verizon and Vodafone.
• BridgePort Networks where he was SVP Marketing, Product and Business Development. BridgePort invented the technology that lets you use voice and messages on your phone seamlessly between Wi-Fi and cellular networks, and is now part of CounterPath, a NASDAQ company.
• Sendit AB in Sweden where he was VP Marketing, Product and Business Development. Sendit was a mobile email pioneer that sold server platforms to mobile operators and was acquired by Microsoft in 1999. Sanjay then served as Director of Program Management in Microsoft’s Mobile Internet unit.

Sanjay has also spent time in venture capital and consulting and advises other startups. He holds a Masters with honors in Electronic Engineering from Cambridge University in the UK.

Thom Singer

After a successful career in sales and marketing, Thom Singer became a growth leadership speaker and master of ceremonies in 2009. A decade later he has brought his high energy presentations and action-oriented content to over 900 audiences. Thom knows that as the speaker or EmCee he has a responsibility to set the tone for a strong conference attendee experience. Known as "The Conference Catalyst" he creates an atmosphere of fun and interaction that lasts beyond his presentation.

Thom earned his Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) in 2014 and is committed to the business of meetings. He is the author of 12 books and is the host of the popular "Cool Things Entrepreneurs Do" podcast. On his show he has interviewed over 400 entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, business leaders and others with a focus on discovering how the most successful people get farther across the gap between potential and results.

At 50 years old Thom decided to reinvent his life and make age 50 to 75 the best years of his life. This meant saying yes to things that scared him, and trying new things. Since that time Thom has jumped off buildings, taken up running (and lost 30 lbs) and began performing stand up comedy.

John Carrier

Senior Lecturer

MIT Sloan School of Management

Dr. John F. Carrier is a Senior Lecturer in the System Dynamics Group at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He has spent over 25 years diagnosing and eliminating hidden factories in the oil & gas, petrochemical, discrete manufacturing, and research laboratory facilities, saving these organizations hundreds of millions of dollars while reducing operating risk. He also works with companies to successfully integrate the technology of the Industrial Internet of Things into their existing organization, with a distinct focus on developing front line leaders in the culture of improvement.
 
He currently runs a popular MIT Executive Education course on Implementing IIoT through Continuous Improvement Leadership (https://tinyurl.com/yafmbdqe). He also co-teaches an MBA course with Professor John DC Little (Little’s Law).  He is also developing a 52 week hybrid/online course for first year front-line leaders.
 
Dr. Carrier holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, an ScD in Control Systems from MIT, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
He lives in Arlington, MA with his wife and two children.

Hajime Sugiyama

Hajime started his career in the factory for PLC components production planning, and was a project manager for a greenfield Big3 Powertrain plant in USA. With 6+ years in Europe, 20+ years in Automation, he has been helping global customers with IIoT installations, and finished his European experience as Executive Vice President for the EMEA Factory Automation business unit.
 
Currently responsible for the global expansion of e-F@ctory, Mitsubishi Electric's Industrial IoT initiative for manufacturing, as well as leading the eco-systems around.
 
Hajime is one of Mitsubishi Electric's global speakers, regularly speaking in IoT forums around the world. He covers IoT, AI, Robotics, 5G, Data Analytics implementation in Manufacturing, sharing his past and on-going experiences on various global sites, blending in his Japanese manufacturing culture background.

Chris Milligan is a senior manager for Nissan North America.  Chris works as the Factory 4.0 coordinator for the Nissan Powertrain Facility with responsibility of leading the development of the Nissan Intelligent Factory. Chris’ 25+ years of multi-discipline experience in manufacturing and reliability engineering, maintenance, computer science and programming, robotics and industrial controls, IoT, nuclear power, and now machine learning and analytics have provide him with a unique perspective on how IoT and analytics combine to make the smart factory of the future.  Chris has been advising OEMs for many years on what products to create to capitalize on the coming wave of manufacturing innovation.

Mark Hepburn

Mark Hepburn is Vice President of Worldwide Sales for ICONICS, Inc., the leading provider of Visual Intelligence solutions based on open standard communications and the latest Microsoft technologies. Hepburn is responsible for ICONICS’ global sales through direct and indirect sales channels, reporting to Russ Agrusa, President and CEO of ICONICS. Hepburn has broad experience leading sales, operations, and marketing teams in the industrial automation industry, including a 15-year career with the General Electric Company, design engineering roles for servo motor systems, eCommerce roles with GE and WESCO Distribution and establishment of a Web-based visual advertising network for busy public venues.  His 15-year career at GE focused on operations management, marketing, sales, and distribution of many of GE’s industrial B2B component businesses including PLC’s, factory automation software, control devices, distribution and protection equipment, motors, drives and lighting systems in a wide range of industries.  Hepburn holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota.  This is Hepburn’s ninth year in his role with ICONICS, where he has led the team to deliver double-digit growth each year.

Tom Buckley

Tom Buckley is ICONICS' IoT Business Development Manager focusing on new market and technology trends around the Cloud and the Internet of Things (IoT). He is responsible for driving ICONICS product direction for the Cloud and for identifying and closing Cloud and IoT opportunities worldwide. Prior to joining ICONICS, Tom was Senior Director of America Sales for Lantronix, where he was responsible for all of Lantronix's product portfolio encompassing embedded M2M modules, IoT connectivity and Out of Band console management for data centers. He has extensive experience in embedded M2M connectivity, IoT implementations and Cloud enablement. Tom has a BS Degree in Biology from Northeastern University, Boston and a BSEET curriculum at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston.

Clive Walton

Clive has worked in the industrial automation software world for over 30 years. After studying for 5 years as a mechanical engineer with Stein Atkinson Stordy, he was given his first senior position of developing a new products division for the firm. Bringing reseller rights to the UK for both Westinghouse PLC’s and GENESIS for DOS, he established a very successful distribution business within SAS who were a heat treatment and furnace manufacture with over 300 employees. Realizing his passion for expressing his technical knowledge into commercial solutions and his drive for delivering the highest levels of customer service, Clive was soon working for the rapidly growing, dynamic business – ICONICS, Inc. Establishing their UK office in 1990, he has grown the team to over 50 people in the UK and Ireland. ICONICS UK Ltd has a talented team that support the solutions focused sales model, serving over 5000 clients in the United Kingdom.

Oliver Gruner

Oliver Gruner, ICONICS Corporate Account Director - Mitsubishi Electric, has been with ICONICS for 19 years. In his role, he is focused on business development for the Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation division and promoting the adoption of ICONICS technology within other Mitsubishi Electric business units. Oliver has 21 years of industry experience with expertise in Cloud and IIoT, integration with manufacturing and ERP systems, and large scale smart buildings deployments. Prior to rejoining ICONICS last year, Oliver was responsible for business development of redundant edge devices, consulting with manufacturing firms on their digital transformation journey, and IoT user experience delivery for connected products. Oliver holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Applied Science in Friedberg, Germany.

David Powell

David Powell is the Team Leader of Arup’s Controls and Commissioning Group in New York, and is a leader within the Arup Aviation ITC practice.
 
He specializes in commissioning management, integrated systems design and management of large complex projects.  He has led the commissioning and integration programs of several major airport projects.
 
David has extensive experience in designing and implementing integrated systems solutions to improve building efficiency and operational performance, this experience is extending into greater and greater requirements for data sharing, data analytics and Machine Learning  and Artificial Intelligence applications.
 
He is experienced in mechanical and controls systems design and low voltage systems engineering – including:  supervisory and data acquisition, security, fire alarm, and airport terminal information technology systems,
 
David has extensive experience and knowledge of the requirements of the commissioning process, systems integration and integration methodologies and standalone and integrated system commissioning and practices. He has successfully delivered projects at many airports throughout the global including JFK International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, and Dublin International Airport.

Brian Beaulieu has served as CEO and Chief Economist of ITR Economics™ since 1987, where he researches the use of business cycle analysis and economic forecasting as tools for improving profitability. Brian has shared his highly valued research results via presentations, workshops, and seminars in numerous countries to hundreds of thousands of business owners and executives for the last 38 years.

Prior to joining ITR Economics, Brian served as an economist for the US Department of Labor, where he worked on the health-care component of the Consumer Price Index. Brian has coauthored, with Alan Beaulieu, the books “Prosperity in the Age of Decline,” “Make Your Move,” and, for children, “But I Want It!”
