President & CEO

Ted’s 25-year career features a broad range of success in industrial automation markets. Prior to joining Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions, Ted was the Director of Business Planning for the Software and Controls segment at Rockwell Automation, responsible for annual operating plans, portfolio management, and acquisition integration. Ted served in a variety of roles at Rockwell including Director of Global Business Development and Business Director, Automation Software. In these roles, his responsibilities included managing Rockwell's relationship with Microsoft and other partners, acquisitions, and business and product management for automation software. 

Prior to Rockwell, he co-founded two software companies. Incuity Software, Inc. developed enterprise manufacturing intelligence software and was acquired by Rockwell in 2008. DataWorks Systems was a system integration firm he co-founded in 1994 that deployed a variety of controls and automation projects in North America and South Africa.

Taku Towatari

Taku "Zack" Towatari

Director of Corporate Development

Mr. Towatari has a 16-year tenure with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, 11 of which were with the Marketing & Planning Department at the Head Office. He led the planning of sales strategies for Factory Automation (FA) products such as industrial robots, and spearheaded project management for e-commerce site construction projects, making a significant impact on the development of the FA business. He was appointed as Director of Corporate Development for ICONICS in October of 2024, working at ICONICS headquarters in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Now at Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions, he is responsible for strengthening the collaboration across the organization. Mr. Towatari obtained a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the US PMI in 2023.

Rob leads the accounting, finance, customer service, legal, compliance activities, and MIS/IT functions for Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions. Rob earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Bryant University and brings over 20 years of finance and corporate accounting experience across a diverse range of industries. His multi-faceted background includes a substantial knowledge of administrative processes, business operations, and financial reporting for privately held, family-owned, and publicly traded companies, and he is accustomed to working across departments to initiate change processes that improve efficiencies, enhance reporting processes, and strengthen performance.

Clive’s career in the industrial automation software sector spans an impressive 35 years. After starting as a mechanical engineer at Stein Atkinson Stordy, he secured UK reseller rights for both Westinghouse PLCs and MEIDS GENESIS for DOS—laying the foundation for a highly successful distribution business. This venture also marked the beginning of his long-standing relationship with Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (MEIDS), formerly ICONICS.

Driven by his passion for translating technical expertise into customer-centric solutions, Clive transitioned to the dynamic world of MEIDS. In 1990, he played a pivotal role in establishing the first UK office, eventually growing the team to over 60 professionals. Serving as CEO for MEIDS UK for over three decades and now as Managing Director for Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions, Clive takes pride in leading a talented team fully integrated within Mitsubishi Electric. Together, they continue to drive the global promotion of MEIDS products and the Intelligent Building Platform (IBSS), originally developed by his UK-based team.

Looking ahead, Clive is excited about the myriad opportunities unfolding in software development, particularly in the realm of cloud technology. Together, the team is cultivating a "can do attitude," always prioritizing customer input—the cornerstone of any successful business.

While Gary has 30+years of exceptional professional experience, most recently, Gary worked for United Technologies as the Director of Product Management and Marketing helping define new products for the Video Surveillance and Card Access market. Gary has an MBA in Strategic Planning, Technical Management from the University of Dallas and a BS in Control/Computer Engineering from University of Texas at Austin.

With over 30 years of experience in software development, Vojta adeptly manages and coordinates the Research and Development (R&D) team at Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions. He joined the company, formerly known as ICONICS, in 1994 as a new development engineer and played a key role in establishing the Czech development center in Pilsen. Over the years, in positions ranging from software architect and technical director to CTO, Vojta has played a vital role in hiring new talent, managing operations, and overseeing the creation of high-quality products. Vojta graduated with a master's degree at the Department of Computer Graphics and Data Visualization at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic.

Mike has held a wide variety of roles in his career. He has worked in software sales, product and engineering management, and business development / strategy creation. He spent two years in Sweden as the VP of Digital Solutions at ESAB (a Colfax Corporation Company), and since returning to the US at the beginning of 2019, was the Director of Business Development and Strategy for the Software and Control division of Rockwell Automation. Mike was part of the team that led the acquisition and integration of the SaaS companies Fiix Software and Plex Systems into Rockwell Automation. Mike is collaborating closely with Mitsubishi Electric's Factory Automation team, actively shaping the software strategy of Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions, emphasizing the growing significance of digital transformation for both our customers and us.

Vice President of Professional Services

John supervises and mentors the U.S. Application Solutions team while driving new projects and QPS opportunities. He joined Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (MEIDS), formerly ICONICS, in June 2008 as a Technical Support Engineer and transitioned to Applications Engineer in 2010. With his strong technical expertise and work ethic, he has made significant contributions to MEIDS and the U.S. QPS team, leading to his promotion to North American Application Solutions Supervisor in June 2013. John holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Roger Williams University.

Takeshi Tarui

Takeshi "Tak" Tarui

Vice President, Global Business Development

Tak has worked in industrial automation for 23 years. Before Mitsubishi Electric, he sold industrial sensors, machine vision systems, robotic cells, testing equipment, and capital equipment. He worked as the Global Key Account Manager in Americas and EMEA for the automotive market at Mitsubishi Electric for eight years, then spent the next four years in the tech industry, focusing on business development with smartphone companies in Silicon Valley, building and managing teams in both roles. His focus on digital business and inorganic growth began with the integration of ICONICS in 2019 while stationed at Nagoya Works. It continues today as the company has officially become Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions.

Tak earned his undergraduate degree in economics from St. Lawrence University. He participated in the NCAA Division I Alpine Ski team during this time, where he served as the team captain in his junior year. He obtained his executive MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Milesh Patel

Milesh Patel

Vice President, Customer Care

Since joining Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (MEIDS), formerly Iconics UK, in 2001, Milesh has held various engineering, design, and architecture roles, including serving as the product owner for the Intelligent Business Software Stack (IBSS) suite in its early years. With over 20 years of experience across multiple industries, he has led and contributed to several large-scale software projects in the UK. Milesh currently manages and coordinates the support, project delivery, and operations teams for MEIDS in the UK. He is responsible for designing and delivering industry-leading solutions using the MEIDS platform.

He holds a BSc (Hons) in Information Systems and an AMBA-accredited MBA in IT Project Management from Leicester University. Additionally, he is an affiliate of the Institute of Asset Management.

Andre Scherpenzeel

André Scherpenzeel

Chief Technology Officer

André joined Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (MEIDS), formerly ICONICS, in 1996 in the Netherlands as a Support Engineer before moving to the United Kingdom in 1999 as Technical Support Manager. There, he built a robust technical team, expanding it to include a full-scale technical support team, a turn-key project delivery team, and a dedicated Azure Cloud Development & QA team. Since 2013, he has also been responsible for Management Systems within the UK, introducing ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and ISO 27001 to the organization.

André currently oversees product development, quality assurance, and new technologies for the Intelligent Building Software Stack (IBSS) Cloud Solutions. He works closely with management to define cloud product and technology strategies, aligning them with R&D objectives.

He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Operational Technology and Computer Science from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. He earned his MBA from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and completed Postgraduate Certificates in Wind & Solar Renewables from Loughborough University and Systems Analysis from The Open University.

With a proven track record and extensive experience and expertise, René is well-equipped to drive business growth across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region. 

René’s career at Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (formerly ICONICS) began in 2005 in technical support. He quickly advanced to Global Support & Services Manager before transitioning into Sales and Account Management, where he has successfully expanded the company’s presence in the Middle East.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Automation Control and Systems Theory and a Master of Science Degree in Cybernetics, Automation Control, and Artificial Intelligence from the University of West Bohemia, Pilsen.

Melissa oversees the Product Marketing, Marketing Communications, Marketing Operations, Technical Writing, and Visual Marketing & Communications Departments Worldwide. Melissa joined Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (formerly ICONICS) in June 2002 and has held several positions at the company starting in our Quality Assurance Department, and in 2004, became the BizViz Product Marketing Manager. Melissa has a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Management Information Systems from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).

Kyle leads the global product management and technical communications teams, driving the growth of the software portfolio for Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (MEIDS) and shaping product strategy to maximize MEIDS' impact within Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation.He believes innovation thrives when dedicated individuals unite for a purpose greater than themselves. Passionate about team dynamics, Kyle fosters environments where individuals collaborate seamlessly, forming high-performing teams that deliver outstanding results.

With more than 25 years of experience in industrial engineering, product management, and marketing, Kyle has held key leadership roles at Rockwell Automation, General Electric, and system integration companies. His expertise spans business growth, industrial software strategy, automation engineering, and team leadership.

Kyle enjoys working with customers, connecting with amazing people, and—above all—doing epic stuff. Outside of work, he loves hockey, snowboarding, and running. A graduate of St. Clair College in Ontario, Canada, he earned a diploma in Mechatronics Engineering and is a co-inventor on 30 patents.

A sales and business development leader with over 25 years of experience, he has a proven track record of driving growth by developing and managing key accounts. Prior to joining MEIDS, Gary spent 20 years at General Electric, gaining broad cross-functional experience and honing his technical expertise and people skills. He excels at prospecting, closing, and executing large, complex sales while cultivating relationships with key decision-makers. He is also highly skilled in selling value propositions and emphasizing quality over cost to drive long-term success

Gary resides in the Philadelphia area with his family. In his free time, he enjoys golf, live sporting events, concerts, and traveling.

Siobhan brings over a decade of HR leadership experience, successfully leading HR initiatives across North America, Europe, and Asia in previous roles. Her expertise spans a wide range of areas including strategic HR planning and implementation, global employment practices and compliance, talent acquisition and management, employee engagement and organizational development, benefits administration, and HRIS systems management and implementation.

Throughout her career, Siobhan has demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering inclusive workplaces and implementing innovative solutions that enhance employee experience while supporting business objectives. Siobhan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Saint Michael's College and has pursued graduate studies in Human Resource Management at Nova Southeastern University.

Katie is responsible for all finance and accounting functions, overseeing all revenue recognition and treasury functions, managing and mentoring the global accounting team. Katie earned her bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting and her MBA from Assumption College located in Worcester, MA. She started her career in public accounting and earned her CPA in 2006. Her accounting background includes experience in various industries including consulting, private equity, and healthcare.

Chris holds a degree in software engineering and began his career in industrial process control software before transitioning into business development and sales. Since joining Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (MEIDS), formerly ICONICS UK, in 2006, he has played a key role in expanding business opportunities. Initially focused on business development, he later took on responsibility for product sales of GENESIS64 and IBSS, as well as solution sales for key accounts requiring end-to-end implementations. For over a decade, Chris has led the UK sales team, driving sustained business growth and strengthening MEIDS’ market presence. 

With extensive experience and a wealth of knowledge across multiple industries, he remains a strong leader within the MEIDS senior management team.

Director of Intelligent Buildings

Since joining Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (MEIDS), formerly ICONICS UK, in 2019, Andrew has led the development and management of Intelligent Building Software Stack (IBSS)—a Microsoft Azure SaaS-based solution with advanced automation engines and applications for Smart Workplace and Smart Buildings.

He currently leads the IBSS product team—driving product strategy, roadmap development, and global market rollout. In addition, he plays a strategic leadership role across marketing, sales, and operations, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to shape market positioning, project delivery, and customer engagement.
