“The GENESIS64 product suite has allowed us to develop a system that our operators have confidence in. It is highly scalable and provides seamless integration of new applications into our existing control system. ”
Headquartered in Rancho Cucamonga, California and in accordance with its mission, the Cucamonga Valley Water District (CVWD) strives “to provide high quality, safe and reliable water and wastewater services, while practicing good stewardship of natural and financial resources.” The facility services a 47-square-mile area with approximately 200,000 people. This area includes Rancho Cucamonga, some areas of San Bernardino County and portions of Upland, Fontana, and Ontario. CVWD functions as a Special District, an independent unit of local government that serves the needs of its community. CVWD has approximately 48,000 water connections, 37,000 sewer connections, and an average daily demand of approximately 47 million gallons. Production Overview
In 2008, the Cucamonga Valley Water District embarked on a control system project intended to simultaneously retrofit an existing treatment facility and increase the functionality of its existing controls. The organization identified features in an HMI/SCADA solution that would easily integrate with existing infrastructure. Working with engineering partner, Black & Veatch, CVWD sought a solution that was not processor-intensive, could deliver a mobile component for employees, and provide comprehensive reporting abilities. After extensive evaluation of multiple platforms, CVWD selected the GENESIS automation software suite as a comprehensive package. The package offered graphics, trends, alarming, and notifications in a single software suite. Along with the comprehensive package, Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions also offered an unlimited tag count with a fully operational trial system capable of being developed as a pilot.
Initially, the GENESIS32™ Enterprise HMI/SCADA suite was deployed including:
• AlarmWorX™ Multimedia
• ReportWorX™
• ToolWorX™
• TrendWorX™
• WebHMI™
